Discord
Post every form submission to a Discord channel with a channel webhook. Mentions in submissions never ping anyone.
Every submission can be posted to a Discord channel as well as emailed to you, through a channel webhook. Failed posts are retried, and each submission in the dashboard shows whether its Discord post went through.
1. Create a webhook in Discord#
- In Discord, open the settings of the channel you want submissions in (the gear icon next to its name).
- Go to Integrations, then Webhooks, and create a new webhook. Give it a name and, if you like, an avatar: that is how the posts will appear.
- Copy the webhook URL. It starts with
https://discord.com/api/webhooks/.
You need the Manage Webhooks permission on the server. Treat the URL like a password: anyone who has it can post to the channel.
2. Connect it to your form#
- Sign in and open the form.
- Under Slack, Discord and Telegram, open Add Discord, paste the URL and choose Connect Discord.
- Choose Send test and check the channel.
Only discord.com and discordapp.com webhook URLs are accepted, and the URL is stored encrypted.
What a post looks like#
The post starts with "New submission to" and the form's name, followed by one line per field, in bold field names. Long values are shortened to 500 characters, and the whole post to Discord's 2,000-character limit; the full submission is in your email and the dashboard.
Submissions come from the public internet, so SilentForms sends every post with mentions switched off. A visitor who types @everyone, @here or a role or user mention does not ping anyone, and Markdown characters in their text are shown as typed.
When a post fails#
A post that fails is retried after 1 minute, 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 2 hours and 12 hours. If Discord answers that the webhook is gone (deleted, or the channel removed), SilentForms stops retrying at once. The submission in the dashboard shows the error and has a Retry now button once you have fixed it.
