SilentForms vs Forminit (formerly Getform)

The free Forminit alternative

Getform was renamed Forminit in January 2026. Its free plan covers one form and 100 submissions a month; webhooks, the API, Slack, Discord, CSV export and an autoresponder are on Pro, from $19 a month. SilentForms has no quota and includes webhooks, the API, Slack, Discord and export for free.

The short version

Forminit is a hosted form backend run by a UK company: point a form at its endpoint and it validates, stores and routes what is sent. It suits teams that want an after-submit workflow, typed field validation and EU data hosting, and are fine paying once they pass 100 submissions a month.

Choose SilentForms if

  • You expect more than 100 submissions a month
  • You want webhooks, the API and export without paying
  • You want Slack, Discord or Telegram for free
  • You want to keep your field names

Choose Forminit if

  • You need file uploads: Forminit includes 100 MB of file storage on its free plan.
  • You want if/else routing of submissions, which Forminit offers as a visual workflow.
  • You need your data hosted in the EU: Forminit states it stores everything in AWS Ireland.

Pricing

SilentForms has no paid plans: every feature is on every form. Here are Forminit's plans as its own pricing page lists them.

What SilentForms does differently

You expect more than 100 submissions a month

Forminit's free plan stops at 100 a month for one form, and once the cap is reached new submissions are rejected and lost. SilentForms has no quota, and an account holds up to 25 forms.

You want webhooks, the API and export without paying

On Forminit, webhooks, the REST API and CSV export come with Pro at $19 a month. In SilentForms every form has them from the first submission.

You want Slack, Discord or Telegram for free

Forminit includes Slack and Discord on Pro. SilentForms posts to Slack, Discord and Telegram on every form, and to anything else through a webhook.

You want to keep your field names

Forminit stores only inputs named in its fi-{type}-{name} pattern. SilentForms stores whatever names your form uses, so name, email and message just work.

Where Forminit is strong

  • A visual workflow per form, with if/else branching and retrying a single failed step.
  • Typed, server-side validated fields, with SDKs for JavaScript, TypeScript and Python.
  • Data hosted in the EU (AWS, Ireland), and file uploads with 100 MB of storage on the free plan.

Switching from Forminit

Your form's markup, fields and styling stay as they are. Most switches change one line.

  1. Step 1

    Get a key

Enter your email on the access key page and click the confirmation link. No password, no card.

  2. Step 2

    Change the action

Change the action from forminit.com/f/{form id} to SilentForms with your access key in the URL. Rename fi- fields to plain names if you like (keep one called email so you can reply); _gotcha keeps working.

  3. Step 3

    Send a test

Submit the form once and check your inbox. Open the dashboard to see it stored there too.

Questions

Is SilentForms really free?

Yes. Unlimited submissions, email delivery, webhooks, spam protection, CAPTCHA and the dashboard are all free, forever, for up to 25 forms per account. There are no paid plans and we never ask for a credit card. The only limits stop abuse: 10 submissions a minute from one IP address and 60 a minute per access key.

Can I keep my existing form when I switch from Forminit?

Yes. Change the action from forminit.com/f/{form id} to SilentForms with your access key in the URL. Rename fi- fields to plain names if you like (keep one called email so you can reply); _gotcha keeps working.

Is Forminit the same as Getform?

Yes. Getform was renamed Forminit in January 2026, so everything on this page applies to both names.

What does Forminit offer that SilentForms does not?

You need file uploads: Forminit includes 100 MB of file storage on its free plan. You want if/else routing of submissions, which Forminit offers as a visual workflow. You need your data hosted in the EU: Forminit states it stores everything in AWS Ireland.
